Why Try a Trello Digital Christmas List?

Why should you try a Trello digital Christmas list? What even is a Trello digital Christmas list?? Read on to find out…

Because your gift, your gift is on my list…

It’s beginning to look a lot like the time of year to write out the Christmas list. (Need some gift ideas? Click here) And here’s the difficult decision you must tackle before even getting started:

To be (digital) or not to be?

To go digital or go analog? That is the question. Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to return to the tactile tradition of paper and pencil or rather to succumb to the seduction of electronic apps and in so doing to end ongoing disorganization…

A Few of My Favorite Things

Whoa, y’all!  Anybody else surprised that it’s suddenly mid-October already?? My husband keeps teasing me by telling me exactly how many days left until Christmas, because just like the rest of the world, we’re walking around a little shell-shocked over the roller coaster that has been 2020.

So instead of spending time analyzing what happened to March through September (!), I’m just going to dive into something fun (or at least it should be!) for a change.

Here goes: How do you tackle approach the gargantuan task joy of Christmas shopping?

The Antidote for 2020’s Worst Contagion

“If you’ve gots the poison, I’ve gots the remedy…” –Jason Mraz, “The Remedy (I Won’t Worry)”

I’m not a glass half-full type of gal. I’m never really sure which is even supposed to be the positive expression (half full or half empty—aren’t there positive and negative connotations in both sayings??).  I always say I’m a realist—neither Pollyanna nor Eeyore.

But no matter your outlook, I think we can agree: 2020 has been a rough year. It’s been hard on everyone and disastrous for many.

Q & A’s

So is there a right way to look at this less-than-stellar year? And even if we don’t yet have a vaccine for the dreaded virus, is there an antidote for the woes of 2020?

Homemade Sourdough–You Can Do It!

“I really think that we can make it, girl.” –Bread (from the On the Waters album, 1970)

What is sourdough, really?

Sourdough bread is one of life’s simple and useful pleasures. And if you’ve never made it before, it’s easier than you think. Hopefully after I acquaint you with it a little more, you’ll think it’s worth considering learning as a skill.

You may be thinking, “I can go and buy bread at a store less than ten minutes from my house. Why in the world would I ever ever consider going to the time and trouble to make my own??”

We don’t need NO education–some thoughts on homeschooling for perplexed parents in a pandemic: PART 2

I started writing some thoughts on homeschooling for parents who are considering it as an option and discovered that I had much more to say than even weird homeschool types would like to read in one sitting. So I’ve divided it into a two-parter. Read PART 1 here.

We don’t need NO education–is homeschooling a suitable option? Part 1

Some thoughts on homeschooling for perplexed parents in a pandemic

I started writing this blog post and discovered that I had much more to say than even weird homeschool types would like to read in one sitting, so I’ve divided it into a two-parter. In this one, I’ll cover 1) the difference in doing school at home and actually homeschooling, 2) freedoms afforded to homeschoolers, 3) the importance of treasuring those freedoms, 4) the fact that it’s NOT easy…and 5) after 14 years, I still believe it’s worth it.

If You Like Toast ’n’ Avocado…

In search of breakfast bliss

I don’t know if breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but it’s certainly my favorite. You start with a clean slate. No need to try to redeem the nutritional deficiencies from meals eaten earlier in the day (neurotic health nuts think this way…) If you’re like me, you can tolerate a few more carbs earlier in the day. The possibilities are endless, and mostly easy to prepare. Oh, how I love breakfast! Can you tell?? And one of my favorite foods for breakfast is avocado toast.
